Development of an Organisational Strategic Plan for Whitsunday Counselling and Support

Background

Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc. is a not for profit community-based organisation offering a range of free and confidential services, provided in a safe and respectful environment. 

The organisation works towards the prevention and reduction of violence in the community by providing professional support services to people and families who have experienced family violence, sexual assault or are at risk of neglect or abuse. 

The purpose of the project is to deliver an insightful strategic planning process that results in the development of a purposeful and meaningful organisational strategic plan for Whitsunday Counselling and Support

Approach

This project will follow a 5-step process developed and successfully implemented by Beacon Strategies in several prior projects. The process is as follows:

1. Look internally

   • Desktop review of any relevant documents

   • Facilitate staff input and engagement into the planning process

   • Assess achievement against  existing strategic documents 

2. Look externally

   • Develop a market research report

   • Undertake a facilitated conversation with consumer and carer representatives

   • Facilitate conversations with a sample of external stakeholders

3. Facilitate the planning

   • Send out materials and summary of findings and engagement to-date to prompt strategic thinking and prepare organisational leaders for a facilitated planning session and interactive workshop with organisational leaders to develop strategic plan content

4. Develop the product

   • Develop an agreed strategic plan based around key strategic areas

5. Support change

   • Provide change management and implementation advice and guidance
