Service Need and Opportunity Analysis: Karakan

Background

The purpose of the project is to “support Karakan to identify how it can most effectively and sustainably support people with mental health challenges in the South Brisbane/Logan region to have optimal opportunity for social and economic participation and independence. Services, supports and infrastructure that enable meaningful social connection and capacity building for those requiring mental health recovery support are fundamental areas of focus.”

Approach

We are supporting Karakan to scope the needs and opportunities to better support people with mental health challenges through the delivery of 7 project phases:

  • Phase 1: commencement - establish a productive and trusted working relationship with key Karakan staff and document our approach

  • Phase 2: customer engagement - engage with customers to understand needs and aspirations

  • Phase 3: desktop research - understand best practice and identify innovative approaches

  • Phase 4: service mapping - identify competitors, collaborators and service gaps

  • Phase 5: scan of funding environment - document and analyse potential funding sources.

  • Phase 6: Reporting and recommendations - we will document a reporting product and develop supporting materials to prepare Karakan in making sense of project findings

  • Phase 7: sense-making and implementation planning - we will facilitate a process to make sense of project findings, explore recommendations and plan for ‘next steps.

Outcome

This project has only recently commenced, we will update this page throughout the course of the project with anything that could benefit the broader sector.
