Why use a survey to drive targeted engagement for the Cairns and Hinterland Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan?
The context of this survey
As a part of our ongoing engagement with Northern Queensland PHN to develop a Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan, we have distributed a survey that aims to engage a broader community to contribute to the development of this plan.
This project has seen many disruptions since its establishment including COVID-19 which caused a 6-month delay on project activities and a cyclone in Northern Queensland which forced the project team to make a trip to Cairns just to have lunch then come home to postpone the engagements once again.
To reach a broader community and ensure there are no further disruptions in collecting localised data, we have created a survey for relevant stakeholders to complete and help shape the future of suicide prevention in their community.
Who does the survey target and how
This survey has been created to engage as many people as possible who live or work in the Cairns and Hinterland region. We are looking to hear from professionals who provide support to people at risk of, currently experiencing or have experienced suicidal crises. We are also aiming to engage people with a lived experience of suicidal crisis or attempt, caring for someone through a suicidal crisis, or who have been bereaved by suicide.
What we aim to achieve
Through the development and distribution of this survey, we hope to build momentum surrounding this project in preparation for the implementation stage of the Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan which will be occurring from July onward.
