Background
Footprints Community delivers a diverse range of health and community services. As the organisation continued to grow, it sought a clearer and more consistent way to understand and communicate the difference its work makes across programs and service areas.
The project was designed to move beyond activity and output reporting by creating a shared organisation-wide approach to outcomes and impact. The framework also needed to align with Footprints Community’s purpose and support practical use across planning, learning, reporting and continuous improvement.
Approach
We used a staged and collaborative process to connect organisational strategy, service delivery and outcomes. The work was deliberately designed to balance consistency across the organisation with the different contexts and reporting requirements of individual programs.
Reviewed the organisation’s strategic direction, purpose and existing approaches to outcomes reporting.
Worked with organisational leaders and staff to define a shared view of impact.
Used program logic modelling to connect service activities and outputs with intended outcomes.
Developed an organisation-wide framework that brought together contributions from different service areas.
Tested and refined the framework through structured feedback and facilitated discussions.
Developed an implementation pathway to support progressive adoption and improvement over time.
Outcome
The project produced an organisation-wide Outcomes and Impact Framework that gives Footprints Community a shared foundation for describing how its work contributes to meaningful change for the people and communities it supports.
The framework connects organisational purpose with service delivery and outcomes, helping create a clearer line of sight between day-to-day work and longer-term impact. It also provides a practical basis for strengthening internal learning, strategic decision-making and communication with stakeholders.
An accompanying implementation pathway supports the organisation to embed the framework progressively, refine measurement approaches and strengthen its evidence base over time.
