Development of a new Organisational Strategic Plan for the Women’s Centre FNQ

Client: Women’s Centre FNQ

Background: 

Womens Centre FNQ is a feminist community-based not-for-profit (NFP) organisation, that delivers a range of support services to women and children in the Cairns and Tablelands region.

Beacon Strategies has partnered with the centre to run a female-led, facilitated strategic planning process. This strategic planning process will look to define the organisation’s strategic direction, guide the organisation for the next three years, and devise realistic, actionable and feasible programs of work to meet these aspirations. 

Approach:

Beacon Strategies is taking a five-step approach to creating the organisational strategic plan for the Womens Centre FNQ:

Phase 1 - Look internally 

Establish project governance arrangements, review achievements against previous strategic documents and hear from those within the organisation about strengths, opportunities, aspirations and results.  

Phase 2 - Prepare Participants 

Provide a briefing to the upcoming strategic planning workshop participants to ensure they are informed and ready to think and plan strategically. 

Phase 3 - Formulate the plan

Develop and facilitate a strategic planning workshop with Womens Centre FNQ leadership and staff to explore strategic direction aligned to the organisation’s identity and objectives. 

Phase 4 - Develop the product

Draft a new Strategic Plan document to articulate the strategic direction of Womens Centre FNQ over the next 3 years, and test this product with key stakeholders.

Phase 5 - Support change

Assist Womens Centre FNQ leadership to operationalise its new Strategic Plan, by providing advice on operational planning processes and effective governance mechanisms.
