About

Alex is a Senior Consultant with experience across the health, medical, disability, aged care and social services sectors. He works with government, Primary Health Networks and service providers to support service planning, system design and program improvement across complex environments. 

Alex has delivered projects including regional health needs assessments, aged care reform initiatives and a national digital health strategy. His work brings together evidence, stakeholder perspectives and system constraints to develop practical and implementable recommendations. He takes a thoughtful and collaborative approach, working closely with clients to understand their context and priorities, ensure outputs are informative, considered and usable in practice and achieve positive project outcomes.

Career highlights: 

  • Supported development of an operating and financial model for Australia’s first proton therapy centre, analysing service demand, workforce requirements and system integration considerations to inform a sustainable and nationally coordinated model of care. 

  • Delivered a primary healthcare needs assessment for a metropolitan Primary Health Network, identifying access barriers and priority actions to support more equitable and culturally appropriate primary care for at-risk and priority populations. 

  • Supported development of a regional clinical services plan, analysing population trends, service utilisation and system capacity to inform coordinated service delivery across a major regional health service catchment in Victoria. 

  • Contributed to a national aged care reform pilot evaluating quality indicators for in-home care, integrating qualitative and quantitative insights and partnering with services to assess feasibility and implementation readiness. 

  • Delivered stakeholder engagement across two regional mental health catchments, synthesising input from service providers, community organisations and people with lived experience to identify priority needs and inform regional planning and commissioning directions. 

Personal interests: 

Outside of work Alex enjoys travelling, being active outside (especially on or in the water), eating great food and drinking great wine. His hobbies include surfing, diving, skiing, snowboarding, hiking/trekking, running and lying on the beach in the sun. He has had to put a hard limit on the number of new and expensive hobbies he takes on.
