Primary Health Networks exist to streamline health services, particularly for those at risk of poor health outcomes and to better coordinate care so people receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. Given this, there is a great deal to learn from each other about how community members who are socioeconomically disadvantaged access, navigate and experience the health system.

In part two, we’re moving on and sharing some insights from two recently completed co-design projects our team has undertaken into two separate health system areas where consistent themes on health and financial exclusion have emerged

In February this year, Beacon Strategies Director, Elliot Parkinson attended a Financial Inclusion conference and presented on the regional barriers to financial inclusion and health. Those familiar with Wikipedia will understand that it has many contributors, knowledge is sourced from the crowd and the content is reviewed and scrutinised by peers and moderators. 

We’re seeing a number of organisations approach us for advice around organisational strategic planning - a good sign that many NFPs are starting to open conversations with community members, staff, external stakeholders and board members about their organisational direction in a post-COVID world.

Grant and tender writing can be challenging for people in the not-for-profit (NFP) sector who are more accustomed to project management or client facing roles. Over the last couple of years, we’ve supported many NFPs to submit high quality grant and tender applications across topic areas from mental health, alcohol and other drugs, health and wellbeing, disability, employment, and many more!

Marcus Mission is a Peer Mentor program that was founded after a young man took his own life. The Peer Mentor program, located in South-East Queensland and run by Wesley Mission Queensland, aims to reduce the risk of suicide for men.
