Cairns and Hinterland Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan Community Advisory Group Meeting - May
The Community Advisory Group for the Northern Queensland PHN Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan project has been assisting our project team with:
the general project direction
planning the community consultations
providing advice where necessary
Last week, the project team flew up to Cairns to hold the second last Community Advisory Meeting. The purpose of this meeting was to present all consultation findings that have been collected throughout the project so far and present an exhaustive list of potential activities that could potentially make it into the final Cairns and Hinterland Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan.
What did the Community Advisory Group meeting cover?
In order to support the development of the plan, the project team presented all of the potential actions identified throughout the project from a range of stakeholders, aligned with each of the 9 LifeSpan framework strategies.
The session was fast-paced and covered a lot of ground, including:
Presentation of actions that arose throughout the course of the project
Prioritisation of potential actions to understand the overall level of support for each action from members of the Community Advisory Group
Discussion and refinement of each of the potential actions
Suggesting any missing ideas or potential actions
Based on the outcomes of this meeting, the project team are now working on the first draft of the Cairns and Hinterland Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan to present back to the Community Advisory Group in the near future.
With the final formal Community Advisory Group meeting set to be held in mid-June, we are very excited to engage with the group to plan for the implementation and operationalisation of the plan. Additionally, we are very much looking forward to presenting the SP-CAP back to all of the stakeholders who have helped develop it in due course.
