Beacon Strategies 2020 Projects: A Year in Review
A shoutout to our client partners and the meaningful work we have delivered this year.
Is it holiday season yet?!? What a year!
I think it is safe to say that 2020 has been the weirdest, wildest year of many people’s lives. At Beacon Strategies we are so fortunate and forever grateful to be working within an industry that has persisted to meet the needs of the communities they serve throughout a global pandemic.
This year has taught our organisation many lessons, including how to successfully adapt to new environments, how to engage genuinely via Zoom (....) and how lucky we are to work with a range of amazing organisations who are driven by their social purpose and mission.
So, as promised, we would like to acknowledge the wonderful projects, committed organisations and dedicated individuals we have had the opportunity to work with this year:
Project: Purpose Project -
We are working alongside Act for Kids to assist them develop a newly defined organisational purpose and mission.
Project: Schools Program Evaluation -
Our program team will analyse the collected data and submit a comprehensive evaluation report demonstrating the program’s impact, provide recommendations to strengthen the model and inform potential replication and expansion of the service model into other regions.
Project: Mental health in general practice: Desktop review and engagement process -
Following a desktop review and engagement process, Beacon Strategies delivered findings back to BNPHN that related to supporting the provision of mental health supports in primary care.
Project: Care Pathways Development -
Our team has commenced planning for the development of a number of topics and setting specific care pathways that will have high utility across a number of sectors (e.g.hospital staff, service providers, GPs and community members).
Project: Outpatients Co-design Project -
Through stakeholder engagement Beacon Strategies delivered a final report to BNPHN outlining the findings, implications and recommendations regarding the improvement of specialist outpatient services within the Brisbane North region.
Project: Child and Youth Mental Health Response in Logan and Beaudesert -
Our project team synthesised findings to identify and prioritise potential solutions and implementation approaches for child and youth mental health needs in the Brisbane South region.
Project: Aged Care Workforce Development Solutions -
Our project team produced a report that will be used by Brisbane South PHN and other key stakeholders to address aged care workforce development needs and future opportunities over the next 5 years.
Central Queensland, Wide Bay and Sunshine Coast PHN (CQWBSCPHN)
Project: Development of a Regionally Tailored Cultural Competency Professional Development Package -
In partnership with CQWBSCPHN, we delivered an approach to developing a regionally tailored cultural competency professional development package.
Project: Child Protection Capability Framework -
We worked collaboratively with CHQ to develop a statewide Child Protection Capability Framework.
Project: Suicide Prevention Outreach Teams Co-design -
COORDINARE engaged Beacon Strategies in to support Inside Out and Associates to document the Suicide Prevention Outreach teams co-design process.
Project: South-Eastern NSW PHN Social Prescribing Co-design -
Through an innovative co-design approach, our team administered a number of workshops regarding the design of a social prescribing service model and will develop a final report for COORDINARE in 2021.
Project: Regional Expansion Strategy -
We are currently supporting Foodbank Queensland to develop a regional expansion strategy to better support rural and regional hunger relief efforts.
Project: Member journey mapping -
Beacon Strategies assisted FoodBank Queensland in gaining a detailed understanding of their member experience through a journey mapping processes.
Project: Suicide Prevention Co-Design -
Our project team delivered a co-design process to develop an ‘implementation ready’ service model for GCPHN relating to addressing situational stressors that cause suicidal ideation.
Project: City Heart Cabs Service Design -
Our project team reviewed the Ipswich City Heart Cabs program, reporting back to ICC summarising the findings, recommendations and future implications for the program
Project: Cairns Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan -
We are working with Northern Queensland PHN to develop a Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan for the Cairns and Hinterland region.
Project: Co-design of NT Refugee Health Model -
Beacon Strategies delivered a service model and transition plan to the Northern Territory PHN relating to the design of a refugee health service model.
Project: Business Development Support
Our team supported Open Minds to identify and monitor new funding opportunities.
Project: Establishment Project Management Support (headspace) -
Worked with Open Minds to develop a centre establishment plan in our online project management tool
Project: Facilitation of development of an outcomes framework -
Beacon Strategies facilitated an organisation-wide workshop relating to developing an outcomes / impact framework for QuAC
Relationships Australia Queensland
Project: Seniors Financial Protection Service Community Education -
Our project team supported RAQ to use a range of digital approaches to engage with seniors and communities around the topic of elder abuse.
Project: Alternatives to Emergency Departments Co-design -
Our project team supported Roses in the Ocean in co-designing suicide prevention Safe spaces across a broad range of NSW LHD’s.
Project: Customer Participation Project -
Within 5 different program areas, Beacon Strategies are providing coaching and support to program staff around ways to include customer feedback in service design and delivery.
Project: Support after Suicide - Strategic Planning -
We supported StandBy to develop a new organisational strategic plan.
Project: Paradise Kids Service Model redesign -
This project saw Beacon Strategies utilise project findings to guide the collaborative development of an evidence-based child and family service model redesign which was presented back to Wesley Mission Queensland.
Project: Carer Support Program for people caring for individuals experiencing a suicidal crisis -
Using a co-design process to guide the design of this service model, our team developed a ‘proof of concept’ service model for testing and evaluation. We will continue to be involved in the monitoring and evaluation of this service model in 2021.
